Ninh Binh - Floodwaters on rivers in Ninh Binh are receding, the locality has mobilized forces to focus on overcoming damage caused by floods.

On September 19, water levels on the Hoang Long and Day rivers are decreasing. However, flooding is still occurring in many localities, affecting people's lives, agricultural production and infrastructure.

In some flooded areas, localities have proactively mobilized forces to help people clear mud and clean houses to stabilize their lives.

According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of September 19, at branch 2 of Gia Vien Primary School, Ninh Binh province (in Kenh Ga village, Gia Vien commune), floodwaters have begun to recede, dozens of school officials and teachers have focused on cleaning mud and cleaning classrooms.

Currently, many areas in the school grounds such as the yard area, school gate, and some functional rooms in the 2-story building are still flooded and cannot be cleaned up.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Principal of Gia Vien Primary School - said that from early morning, dozens of officials, teachers and parents were busy cleaning and rearranging tables and chairs to prepare for students to return to school.

Currently, all classrooms and functional rooms of the 3-story building have been cleaned and sanitized. We will continue to monitor the areas that are still flooded, with the spirit of cleaning up as soon as the water recedes" - Ms. Ha shared.

In residential areas of Gia Tuong, Phu Son, Gia Vien communes... on September 19, floodwaters began to recede, many households are taking advantage of favorable weather, focusing on cleaning their houses, overcoming damage caused by floods to soon stabilize their lives.

According to a quick report from the Ninh Binh Provincial Civil Defense Command, as of 10:00 AM on September 19, Ninh Binh province still had 4,194 houses flooded.

Floods have affected 8,927 hectares of rice in Ninh Binh province, 41 hectares of crops damaged, 446.48 hectares of aquaculture area flooded and 210 chickens damaged. Ninh Binh province has 1 house collapsed, 2 houses collapsed and 1 house subsided, cracked walls.

Floods have also caused 6 landslides in the area near people's houses and roads to people's houses in Hong Thang village, Phu Son commune, affecting more than 100m2 of production forest.

To overcome the flooding situation, irrigation works management units are operating 645 fixed electric pumps, 144 culverts, 1 lake culvert and 25 spillways to drain water for agricultural production, urban areas and industrial parks.

The forces participating in response include 989 officers and soldiers of the army, 400 officers and soldiers of the police and other forces, with 65 vehicles of all kinds.

The Provincial Civil Defense Command requests localities to urgently zone off flooded areas, mobilize oil pumps, electric pumps and field pumps to drain water and limit the impact on rice and crop yields.

In areas where water has receded, localities focus on disinfection, sterilization, environmental sanitation, ensuring hygienic domestic water sources and disease prevention and control for people, livestock, and poultry.

Along with the work of overcoming the consequences, Ninh Binh province continues to ensure food, medicine, drinking water and essential necessities for people at evacuation points, ensuring safety during the time when floods have not ended.
