On the afternoon of September 22, the women's kata team brought home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD 20.
Immediately after this achievement, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh sent congratulations to the athletes, coaches and the entire Vietnamese Sports Delegation.
Leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also directed the Vietnam Sports Delegation to promptly reward the achievements of the team. According to the Minister's direction, Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh awarded a hot bonus of 200 million VND for the first gold medal of the Delegation at the Congress.
In addition to bonuses from the Vietnam Sports Delegation, units also pay attention to athletes belonging to the People's Police force.
Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh, Deputy Director of Department X03 (Ministry of Public Security), Vice President cum General Secretary of the People's Police Sports Association, presented 50 million VND from the People's Police Sports Association. T&T Group also awarded 100 million VND to athlete Nguyen Ngoc Tram.
After the match, Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at ASIAD 20 Nguyen Hong Minh said he was happy with the results of the women's kata team. According to him, this achievement is even more meaningful as the martial artists have continued to defend the championship won 3 years ago.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh shared: "We are very happy that the women's kata team has won a gold medal. This is a very proud achievement when you have successfully defended the championship won 3 years ago.
We hope that this first gold medal will be a source of encouragement and motivation for all members and teams of the Vietnam Sports Delegation to be more confident, continue to compete successfully and achieve good results in the coming time. Especially the concern of the Minister and Leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will add motivation for the entire delegation to complete its tasks.
