According to the draw results of the 2027 Asian Cup finals held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) in the early morning of May 10, Group E includes the UAE, South Korea, Vietnam teams and the winner of the play-off match between Lebanon and Yemen.
After the draw, UAE media said that this is a relatively balanced group. In which, South Korea is still considered the top candidate thanks to owning many players playing in Europe.
However, the Vietnamese team is no longer considered an easy opponent to defeat as before. Some assessments suggest that Vietnamese football has been developing positively in recent years and may become a mystery at the upcoming tournament.
In addition, the UAE team is said to be building a large-scale preparation plan for the 2027 Asian Cup. The West Asian team is expected to hold training in Europe from the end of June to the beginning of August, and also have another gathering at the end of the year before the tournament kicks off.
The UAE Football Federation is also considering extending the training time and strengthening international friendly matches to help the team have the best preparation for the finals.
UAE experts believe that Group E promises fierce competition as the level gap between Asian teams is gradually narrowing. In addition to South Korea being considered the strongest team in the group, UAE and Vietnam are both assessed as having the ability to compete for tickets to the next round.
According to the tournament format, the top two teams in each group and 4 third-placed teams with the best results will qualify for the round of 16. The 2027 Asian Cup takes place from January 7 to February 5, 2027 in Saudi Arabia.
