The 2026 World Cup will open in an unprecedented way in history when FIFA confirms that the three co-host countries, the US, Mexico and Canada, will all hold separate opening ceremonies before their first match.
A series of famous music stars such as Shakira, Katy Perry, Lisa or Anitta promise to turn the biggest football festival on the planet into a global entertainment feast.
The biggest World Cup in history will kick off in the early morning of June 12 (Vietnam time) in Mexico City. FIFA said that the famous band Mana along with Alejandro Fernandez and Belinda will participate in Mexico's opening ceremony.
The event is built to honor Mexican cultural identity with the appearance of many traditional and contemporary folk artists.
By dawn on June 13, the second opening ceremony will take place in Toronto before the match between the Canadian team and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Famous Canadian artists such as Alanis Morissette, Michael Buble, Alessia Cara, William Prince and Sanjoy will stir up the stage.
Also on June 13, the United States will hold a separate opening ceremony in Los Angeles before the US team's opening match against Paraguay. Katy Perry will be the main performer, alongside rapper Future.
Notably, FIFA also confirmed the appearance of many famous international music stars such as Anitta, Lisa, Rema and Tyla. FIFA described this as "an energetic explosion performance, reflecting the scale and unprecedented ambition of the 2026 World Cup".
In addition, Shakira is also said to be reappearing on the World Cup stage with the song "Dai Dai", continuing the tradition of the Colombian singer's attachment to the biggest football festival on the planet.
The 2026 World Cup is also the second time in the history of the tournament to be held by many countries after the 2002 World Cup co-hosted by Japan and South Korea. However, that year's tournament only had one opening ceremony.
