Vietnam national team's attack creates a new face
Right after the 7-0 victory over Timor-Leste in the opening match of ASEAN Cup 2026, commentator Quang Huy said that the performance of the Vietnamese team exceeded the expectations of experts.
He shared: "Everyone thinks the Vietnamese team will win. Most predictions are about 3-0 or 4-0 because there is still some caution. But winning 7-0 is beyond imagination. In the commentary program, the boldest person only predicts 5-0. Besides the spirit of a champion, we also have many new features".
According to commentator Quang Huy, the most positive point is not the score but the way the Vietnamese team scores goals. If in the previous ASEAN Cup championship journey, Nguyen Xuan Son was almost the center of all attacking options, now coach Kim Sang-sik's team has more spearheads capable of creating a difference.
Xuan Son is still very important, but I have a feeling that he has not returned to his best form. Fortunately, we have other support points. If we just rely on Xuan Son, it will be dangerous," commentator Quang Huy assessed.
Commentator Quang Huy especially appreciated the performance of Nguyen Dinh Bac and Do Hoang Hen: "Dinh Bac scored a hat-trick, Hoang Hen scored a double. Everyone has their own style and they all play very well. I think the Vietnamese national team's attack today is rich and can completely create a more imposing and seductive playing style than when we won the championship more than a year ago".
According to commentator Quang Huy, this diversity makes the Vietnamese team more unpredictable, instead of relying on one individual as before.
Dinh Bac deserves to start against Singapore
Many opinions suggest that Tai Loc may be given the opportunity to start in the match against Singapore after recovering from injury. However, commentator Quang Huy still assesses the trio Nguyen Xuan Son - Nguyen Dinh Bac - Do Hoang Hen as the optimal choice at the present time.
He analyzed: "I watched carefully and felt that the trio just now was the best. Dinh Bac played to the left, Hoang Hen to the right to promote dribbling into the left foot, and Xuan Son played center forward. If Giovane was brought in from the beginning, it was not necessarily more effective because his role and Hoang Hen were somewhat similar".
Commentator Quang Huy also gave many compliments to Nguyen Dinh Bac when saying that this striker is having favorable conditions to develop stronger.
He said: "Dinh Bac has both the qualities of a genius and a physique of about 1m80. Vietnamese strikers who are so tall are often strong in tackles but not too skillful. Dinh Bac is both technical and ready to hit, play high balls and play as a wall. I think he can reach even higher heights".
In midfield, commentator Quang Huy predicts that Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Hoang Duc will continue to be the main midfield pair thanks to their ability to control the tempo, escape pressing and control the game.
Although Singapore is in good form with two consecutive victories, he still believes that the Vietnamese team is capable of winning all 3 points if they maintain the sharpness of their attack.
