Vietnam women's volleyball finalizes the framework towards the 33rd SEA Games

The coaching staff has identified important faces of the Women's Volleyball Team participating in the 33rd SEA Games.

Who will be sure about a place to go to Thailand?

The Vietnam women's volleyball team started to conduct professional testing matches to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games from the beginning of training in the Southern region. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet told the media that he had to carefully check each position to choose 14 official players for himself.

The Vietnam women's volleyball team won the Silver Medal at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia. In the list of 14 official athletes who have participated in the 32nd SEA Games, there are only those who are practicing to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, including Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh. In addition to them, two players, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Tran Thi Bich Thuy, who are in Japan, will return home in early December.

Basically, these 8 faces are the pillars of the team that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has built a training strategy for the past 3 years. They have officially competed in important tournaments to achieve many international results for Vietnamese women's volleyball.

In the 5 international tournaments that the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will participate in in in the training phase in early 2025, the above 8 players will all participate in the competition. Therefore, everyone knows that their chance to participate in the 33rd SEA Games is almost certain.

The most significant change in the professional preparation process for the 33rd SEA Games is the fact that the two attacking players Dang Thi Hong and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen could not gather for the national team. Therefore, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet must find personnel options to change. Some new faces are focused on the current list of 19 players.

Many experts believe that young faces who are preparing for the 33rd SEA Games such as: Nhu Anh, Yen Nhi, Anh Thao, Thuy Linh... need to take the opportunity to attend the congress to improve their expertise.

The goal is still achievement

The Vietnam women's volleyball team received a quota to enter the final of the SEA Games 33 Gold Medal. We have determined that the women's teams that will compete for medals directly with the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team are Thailand (host), Indonesia and the Philippines.

The 4 teams competed together in the 2 stages of the 2025 SEA V.League (August 2025). After nearly 4 months, each team has changed. The most obvious change for the Vietnam women's volleyball team was the nose-throwing of the main striker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. Therefore, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet himself still has a headache finding a suitable player for the opposite position to ensure good attacking ability.

The coaching staff of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team determined that the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team is a team built on discipline, with a professional interweaving between young faces and experienced people. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will not ignore the players familiar with the playing style he built.

In a few exchanges with the media, Mr. Kiet once said that shaping the playing style requires a long enough time and the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team is doing well in its professional path. Therefore, new faces without experience will need enough time to adapt to understand the previously formed areas of expertise.

"Receiving the goal of reaching the final of the Gold Medal is a big pressure for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team. However, we will select the players with the best form to participate in the competition. The pressure is also the motivation for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team to strive to overcome" - coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once expressed.

List of 19 current Vietnamese volleyball players: Nguyen Khanh Dang, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Pham Quynh Huong, Le Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Ha Kieu Vy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Doan Thi Xuan, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Dang Thi Kim Thanh, Le Nhu Anh, Le Thi Yen, Hoang Hong Hanh, Luu Thi Hue, Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Le Thuy Linh.
