This is the basis for AFC to allocate slots to participate in Asian club-level tournaments. With the current position, Vietnamese football continues to maintain a direct entry slot and a play-off slot in the AFC Champions League Two, similar to the two seasons 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
In East Asia, Vietnam ranks 8th. In Southeast Asia, Thailand is the country with the highest ranking, ranking 7th in Asia. The next positions belong to Malaysia (11), Singapore (14), Vietnam (15) and Cambodia (19) respectively.
According to AFC, the ranking is built based on the performance of clubs in continental tournaments in the last 8 seasons. Recent seasons are calculated with higher coefficients to accurately reflect the current strength of each football background.
The 2025-2026 season is calculated with a maximum coefficient of 1.0 and gradually reduced to 0.3 for the 2017 season. The 2020 season is not counted points due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.
In the 2025-2026 season, Vietnamese football has two representatives participating in AFC Champions League Two, which are Cong An Hanoi and Nam Dinh clubs. In which, Cong An Hanoi stopped in the round of 16, while Nam Dinh finished the group stage in third place.
In the Asia-wide rankings, Saudi Arabia continues to lead. Japan and South Korea respectively rank in the following positions.
