Today (April 7), in Ningbo (China), players started competing in the 2026 Asian Badminton Championships.
The tournament takes place in 5 categories including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Each category organizes preliminary competition before entering the official round.
In the men's singles preliminary round, Nguyen Hai Dang won 2 victories respectively against opponents Khaikh Mahd (Saudi Arabia) and Hien Htut (Myanmar). The result helped the player enter the main round of the men's singles event.
According to the bracket of the men's singles main round, Nguyen Hai Dang will meet player Pranoy H.S. (India) on April 8.
Player Nguyen Thuy Linh was awarded a ticket to the main round (not qualifying round). She is the only representative of Vietnamese badminton to compete in the women's singles main round to meet opponent Huang Yu-Hsun (Taiwan, China) on April 8.
In the men's doubles event, 2 players Tran Dinh Hoang, Nguyen Dinh Manh passed the preliminary round to get a spot in the official round. The Vietnamese badminton team also had Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Pham Thi Khanh enter the main round of the women's doubles event and Tran Dinh Hoang, Pham Thi Khanh won a spot in the main round of the mixed doubles.
The 2026 Asian Badminton Championships attracts top continental faces to compete. The tournament takes place until April 12 with a total prize of 550,000 USD.
