The Badminton Department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) and the Vietnam Badminton Federation have established a Team to prepare to go to China to compete in the 2026 Asian Championship from April 4 to April 11.
The list of players participating in this year's tournament includes Nguyen Thuy Linh, Nguyen Hai Dang, Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Tran Dinh Manh, Pham Thi Khanh, Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Pham Van Truong and Bui Bich Phuong.
Head coach Ngo Trung Dung will accompany the players to provide professional guidance during the competition. Currently, the Vietnamese badminton team does not have foreign experts after Mr. Hariawan (Indonesia) finished working from the beginning of 2026.
The Asian Badminton Federation awarded official slots to Vietnamese badminton in this year's tournament events based on the athlete rankings. Therefore, the Vietnamese badminton team only has 1 slot to participate in each event, including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
Badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh is the only representative of Vietnam to compete in the women's singles event while Nguyen Hai Dang will compete in the men's singles. In the last 3 participations in the Asian Championships (in 2023, 2024, 2025), the Vietnamese badminton team did not have a medal result.
Currently, player Nguyen Thuy Linh is participating in the Masters 2026 International Tournament in France, while Nguyen Hai Dang is preparing to compete in the Vietnam International Challenge 2026 International Tournament in Hanoi.
After the above 2 tournaments, the players will train in Bac Ninh to go to China to compete in the 2026 Asian Championship. The Asian Badminton Confederation will draw professional numbers before the tournament kicks off.
