After the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Badminton Federation (2024-2028), the President of the Vietnam Badminton Federation, Mr. Le Dang Xu, affirmed: “This will be an important term for Vietnamese badminton. In particular, we will focus on training and coaching promising young faces.”
General Secretary of the Vietnam Badminton Federation, Mr. Le Thanh Ha also expressed that throughout the previous term, the 6th term, the professional department of the Vietnam Badminton Federation coordinated with the badminton department (Department of Physical Education and Sports) to carry out many training programs, focusing on investing in players to find opportunities for success in important tournaments. At this time, we have tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh who is considered to be the one who created the image and great support from fans after veteran tennis player Tien Minh retired behind the scenes.
Tennis player Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen is a promising face. At the age of 13, Thu Huyen won a Silver Medal in the U15 women's singles at the 2024 Asian Youth Championship. This is considered a stepping stone for Thu Huyen to confidently step into the international arena. However, according to General Secretary Le Thanh Ha's analysis, investment in Thu Huyen and many other young tennis players will follow a specific strategy, focusing on professional training and increasing participation in international tournaments.
Vietnamese badminton has two most notable players who are Olympic players: Nguyen Thuy Linh and Le Duc Phat. In addition, two young players who are considered promising behind them are Nguyen Hai Dang and Vu Thi Anh Thu, although they have not yet made any specific impressions.
Have resources
According to the financial report of the Vietnam Badminton Federation, the fund currently has more than 8 billion VND. In the 6th term (including a period affected by the COVID-19 pandemic), the Vietnam Badminton Federation still found a source of revenue of more than 4 billion VND. And throughout this term, the Vietnam Badminton Federation has spent more than 5 billion VND on training, competition, and coaching activities of Vietnam badminton. With more than 8 billion VND, the resources of the Vietnam Badminton Federation are available.
According to the confirmation of the professional department, badminton tournaments in the national competition system and international tournaments held in Vietnam all have sponsors. That is, the players have the opportunity to be rewarded commensurate with their achievements. More importantly, the international badminton tournament held in Vietnam has a socialized source to invite quality players to participate so that Vietnamese athletes can compete and improve their skills. Indonesian expert Hariawan came to Vietnam to work not only to train the national team. This coach also has the role of developing plans for youth training.
Through research, to train children, strategies must be systematic and most importantly, financial resources are needed. Because we have a system of national youth competitions, national youth competitions and national youth championships.
