Tennis player Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen won the runner-up position and the silver medal in the U15 women's singles at the 2025 International Badminton Series.
Thu Huyen is the No. 1 female singles seed in the U15 group. She played against Nuttaporn Shanthai (Thailand, 2nd seed) in the final.
In the first game, Thu Huyen won 21-17. However, in the remaining 2 games, the Vietnamese tennis player played under his influence, so he lost 14-21 and 18-21. To lose 1-2 in the final, Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen had the runner-up position.
However, Vietnamese badminton still has the joy of winning a gold medal in Thailand.
In the final match of the U15 men's doubles, the pair of tennis players Nguyen Tan Nghia and Pham Ngoc Minh convincingly defeated Jun Yeop Bae and Ho Gun Lee (Korea, seed number 8) with a score of 2-1.
The Vietnamese players won the first game with a score of 21-19. In the second game, Ngoc Minh and Tan Nghia lost 13-21. However, in game 3, the two players overcame their opponents with a result of 21-16 to win the final match, winning the gold medal.
Before that, the Vietnamese youth badminton team won the bronze medal in the U15 women's doubles. The achievement belongs to Le Nguyen Ngoc Nga and Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen. The two players lost in the semi-finals to the opponent pair of Korean badminton, so they ended up in 3rd place.
The tournament organizes events for men and women in the age groups of U13, U15, U17, U19. Vietnamese badminton has only won a medal in the U15 event in this competition.
