Runner-up Dinh Phuong Thanh is one of four male faces officially awarded by the Vietnam figurehead Sports Team to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December.
Currently, Dinh Phuong Thanh is actively preparing professionally for the high-level training phase at the National High-level Athletes' Training Center (Hanoi).
Speaking at the 2025 National Tools and Physical Training Championship (October 2025) in Hanoi, Dinh Phuong Thanh expressed: I understand the preparation plan for the 33rd SEA Games from the beginning of 2025. The coaches have built a very detailed professional curriculum for each player, including me. I have participated in many SEA Games and I really want to achieve the best results for Vietnamese sports.
10 years ago, Dinh Phuong Thanh attended the Southeast Asian Games for the first time. That was the competition at the 28th SEA Games in 2015 in Singapore.
Vietnamese sports have witnessed Dinh Phuong Thanh competing brilliantly to win 4 gold medals (men's team, men's individual all-rounder, single reps, double reps) at the 28th SEA Games.
The athlete shared: For gymnastics players, winning the all-round championship is always the most valuable. I am very proud to have achieved this result right at the 2015 competition in Singapore. After the 28th SEA Games, this male athlete continued to flourish and win many more gold medals at the 29th, 30th, 31st and 32nd SEA Games.
Dinh Phuong Thanh said that his memorable memory is standing on the highest podium to receive a gold medal to listen to the Vietnamese national anthem resound at the 31st SEA Games held in 2022 at home.
Experts still remember the stands of the horse Sports Palace (where the SEA Games1) filled with spectators cheering for the Vietnamese players competing at that time. Individual player Dinh Phuong Thanh won 2 gold medals (double sacks, single bar) at this Congress.
Evaluating Dinh Phuong Thanh, a representative of the physical education department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) said: "Phuong Thanh is an experienced athlete. Above all, at the SEA Games arena, coaches still believe that Phuong Thanh will maintain his competitive form to achieve the best results".
Before participating in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, Dinh Phuong Thanh won 11 gold medals in his previous appearances at the SEA Games.
After 10 years since winning the gold medal at the 28th SEA Games in 2015, Dinh Phuong Thanh has now become the oldest and most experienced player of the Vietnam Men's figureyball Team.
Every year that passes, I get older by 1 year. I will try my best to compete for results at the 33rd SEA Games, the athlete added. With this determination, everyone is looking forward to Dinh Phuong Thanh's success in Thailand this year.
