The 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championship ended on the evening of November 18 in Indonesia. The Vietnamese athletics team ranked second overall with 13 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.
First place is the host team Indonesia with the result of 14 gold medals, 15 silver medals, 16 bronze medals and third place is the Philippines team (11 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 1 bronze medal).
On the final day of competition, the Vietnamese athlete won 5 more gold medals. One of the notable results was the 1m74 achievement in the women's high jump event of young face Mai Ngoc Anh. The statistic that helped her win the gold medal to break Southeast Asia's youth record of 1m73 has existed since 2012.
In addition, the remaining gold medals went to Chau Ngoc Quynh An (results 12m67, women's 3-step dance event), Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh (3.00m women's hurdles, 11 minutes 15 seconds 74), Luong Xuan Son (3,000m men's hurdles, 9 minutes 45 seconds 78), and the 4x100m mixed-use athlete (45 seconds 01).
This year's tournament attracted athletes from 10 countries including Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia (host) to compete for medals for men and women in the U18 and U20 age groups. This is also the last international tournament in 2025 for young Vietnamese athletes.
