The Vietnamese athletics team set a target of striving to win 12 medals at this year's SEA Games.
General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung discussed: " Performance indicators are based on the professional strength that the Vietnam Athletics Team has.
Each professional content team evaluates, analyzes and forecasts the possibility of disputing the results so that we can report to the management level of the above target".
At the most recent working session with the Vietnam Athletics Team preparing for the 33rd SEA Games at the National High-level Athletes' Training Center (Hanoi), leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam required each athlete to maintain the highest spirit, ready to compete to achieve high results at the 33rd SEA Games.
The 33rd SEA Games Athletics will compete in 47 events.
The Vietnamese athletics team won 12 gold medals at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia in the events of 3,000m hurdles for men (Nguyen Trung Cuong), 800m for women (Nguyen Thi Thu Ha), 1,500m for women, 5,000m for women, 10,000m for women, 3,000m for women (Nguyen Thi Oanh), 100m for women (Huynh Thi My Tien), 400m for women (Nguyen Thi Huyen), 4x400m for women, 20km for women (Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc), 7 women's events (Nguyen Thi Linh Na), 4x400m mixed-use for men and women.
At the 33rd SEA Games, athletes Nguyen Thi Huyen and Nguyen Thi Linh Na retired from competition and switched to new jobs.
The Vietnamese athletics team is practicing professionally in all events in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Bac Ninh.
