On December 26, the Vietnam Athletics Federation organized a ceremony to commend and reward the Vietnamese Athletics Team participating in SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
According to reports, the athletics team participating in SEA Games 33 has 66 members, including 1 team leader, 1 expert, 14 coaches and 50 athletes, competing in 36/47 events.
In terms of achievements, the team won a total of 35 medals of all kinds, including 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals, 11 bronze medals. The number of gold medals in athletics accounted for 13.8% of the total number of gold medals of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.
Notably, out of a total of 12 gold medals in athletics, female athletes won 10 gold medals - accounting for 83.3%, and male athletes won 2 gold medals, accounting for 16.7%.

At the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Ve Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam Athletics Federation - shared: "Vietnam Athletics has made an important contribution to the overall achievements of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. This achievement is commendable and commendable when we have completed the target. The athletes have competed hard, overcome the pressure of the host country to affirm their bravery, breaking 2 SEA Games records, 4 national records...
In addition to veteran athletes such as Nguyen Thi Oanh (3 gold medals), Nguyen Thi Ngoc (3 gold medals), Nguyen Trung Cuong (1 gold medal), Quach Thi Lan (1 gold medal)... Vietnamese athletics also introduced a series of young athletes such as Bui Thi Kim Anh (high jump), Le Thi Cam Tu (200m), Nguyen Khanh Linh (1500m), Le Thi Tuyet (10,000m), Ha Thi Thuy Hang (long jump), Ho Trong Manh Hung (three-step jump), Ta Ngoc Tuong (400m)".
Mr. Dung also emphasized: "The team has achieved good results, but must frankly recognize that they can do better than what they have. The potential is still very large, many medals can be turned into gold if determined and tactics are more reasonable.
Here, we must analyze each athlete, we must rejuvenate the force, invest specifically in athletes with high achievement potential, towards Asia and the Olympics".

In order to promptly encourage and reward as announced before the team departs to participate in the SEA Games, the Vietnam Athletics Federation coordinates with sponsors to award the amount of 1 billion VND to the Vietnamese athletics team.
