Nhi Yen has an Asian medal but is unlikely to win the 33rd SEA Games
Tran Thi Nhi Yen is the first athlete to win a medal for the Vietnam Athletics Team at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship. This young face won the Bronze Medal in the women's 100m event.
According to professional preparation, the Vietnam Athletics team puts a lot of faith in the short distance group of 100m, 200m women who achieved the highest results at the 33 SEA Games. The content groups are focused on the best achievement of the Vietnamese athletics at the SEA Games 33 expected to include short distance (100m, 200m female), long distance (800m, 1,500m), average distance (400m), relay (4x400m) and content of fence, obstacles (100m fence, 400m female fence, 3,000m obstacles).

In fact, competing in the women's 100m final at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship, Shanti Pereira participated and surpassed Tran Thi Nhi Yen to finish second, winning a Silver Medal. Tran Thi Nhi Yen's score in this tournament was 11 seconds 54 while Shanti Pereira reached 11 seconds 41.
The last time the Vietnam Athletics team won the gold medal in the content of 100m or 200m at the SEA Games was the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines. Former player Le Tu Chinh won the Gold Medal (content 100m) and Silver Medal (200m content). Now, Tran Thi Nhi Yen is the best short -distance female athlete in Vietnam, so she still aims to win the Gold Medal when attending the SEA Games.
The main players are the 400m and Nguyen Thi Oanh teams
The Vietnamese athletics team also has the expectation of winning the 33rd SEA Games Gold Medal for the competition ability of athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh and the athlete in the 400m and 400m hurdles.
Nguyen Thi Oanh won 4 Gold Medals at the 32nd SEA Games (1500m, 3,000m hurdles, 5,000m, 10,000m). Nguyen Thi Oanh is keeping her tactics confidential, not revealing how many events she will participate in at the 33rd SEA Games.
