In this event, 4 Vietnamese athletes, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh, Nguyen Thi Huyen and Nguyen Thi Hang, won the 2024 Asian Athletics Championship with a time of 3 minutes 32 seconds 36.
Therefore, the Vietnamese girls are expected to successfully defend the gold medal.
Entering the race, the Vietnam women's 4x400m relay team started with Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Quach Thi Lan and Hoang Thi Minh Hanh respectively. In the first three races, the Vietnamese girls fiercely competed for the leading position with three runners from India.
In the final race, the representative of Sri Lanka suddenly took the lead. In the last 100m, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh accelerated to maintain the top 1. Unfortunately, in the last 60m, she was passed by the Indian representative to finish first.
As a result, the Indian team won the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 34 seconds 18. The Vietnamese team won the silver medal with a time of 3 minutes 34 seconds 77 seconds. The bronze medal went to the Sri Lanka team with a time of 3 minutes 36 seconds 67 seconds.
