Vietnam Athletics has a bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Championship

Tran Thi Nhi Yen brought home the bronze medal in the women's 100m event at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship.

Today (May 28), the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship continues to take place in Korea. Athlete Tran Thi Nhi Yen is the representative of Vietnam competing in the women's 100m race.

In the qualifying round, Nhi Yen ranked 5th out of 8 athletes who reached the final. In the final round, Nhi Yen and her opponents had to start the competition later than expected due to heavy rain.

The runner born in 2006 started in lane 4. She started well, continuously chasing strong opponents such as Liang Xiaojing, Shanti Pereira... At many times, the Vietnamese representative ran faster than her senior Shanti Pereira.

Although still young, throughout the race, Nhi Yen showed the most confidence, determination and excitement.

In the last 20m, Liang Xiaojing firmly took the lead. Meanwhile, Shanti Pereira had an impressive sprint to rise to second place. Nhi Yen has tried very hard to successfully defend her third place when finishing.

As a result, champion Liang Xiaojing with a score of 11 seconds and 37 Shanti Pereira won the silver medal with a score of 11 seconds, while Nhi Yen reached a score of 11 seconds and 54 to win the bronze medal. This is also the first medal for Vietnam's athletics in this year's tournament.

Nhi Yen has shown constant progress. Previously, when participating in the 2023 tournament, despite being busy with the high school graduation exam and not having much time to prepare, Nhi Yen still reached the finals of the women's 100m and the women's 200m semi-finals.
