Lam Dong - A resident caught a giant mackerel, weighing nearly 60kg, near Phu Quy Island.

On November 9, fishermen in Phu Quy Special Zone (Lam Dong province) were stirred up when a man caught a fish weighing nearly 60kg. This is a type of mackerel.

For those who have been practicing the sea profession for a long time, catching such a large amount of mackerel is extremely rare.

This mackerel is caught in the sea about 7 nautical miles from the island. The fisherman used the cantilever method, combined with a 56lb boat. This is a traditional way of fishing for fishermen in coastal areas, suitable for large fish to swim quickly and healthily.

However, after the fish bit the fish, it took a long time to bring the fish onto the boat because the fish was too big and had strong pulling power.

The fisherman said that it took nearly 2 hours to hold the traps and collect the traps to pull the fish close to the boat, then used an iron hook to bring the fish onto the boat.

Right after bringing the fish to shore, someone asked to buy the fish for 35,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Ngo Minh Pho - a resident of Phu Quy Special Zone said that mackerel with this weight is a huge fish that is very difficult to catch.

Many elderly fishermen on Phu Quy island said that about 20 years ago, there were many such big mackerel, but now they are extremely rare.

Mackerel is a type of fish with high economic value, popular in processing. For fishermen and those who are passionate about catching sea fish, catching giant mackerel is a source of pride in their skills and fishing experience.
