On the night of September 15, the Vietnamese sports delegation officially departed for Japan to participate in ASIAD 20. Leading the delegation was Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation at this year's Games.
Before the flight departs at Noi Bai airport, the farewell ceremony for the Vietnam Sports Delegation was held with the participation of sports industry leaders, delegation officials and team members.
At the ceremony, Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet requested members to pay attention to health, maintain solidarity, comply with the regulations of the host country and compete in accordance with the law. He also thanked the relevant agencies for their cooperation in bringing the delegation to Japan.
Due to the different schedules of each sport, teams are arranged to leave at different times, in accordance with professional plans.
According to the plan, on the night of September 15 and the day of September 16, delegation officials and karate, rowing, wushu and canoeing teams will successively go to Japan. The shooting team of 21 members left Hanoi on flight VN348 on the night of September 15.
On September 16, the main force of the karate team including 10 members continued to set off. On September 18, 25 members of the sepak takraw team are expected to go to Japan.
At ASIAD 20, the Vietnamese sports delegation with 348 athletes participating in 33 sports aims to win 4 or more gold medals.
Shooting, karate and sepak takraw once won gold medals at ASIAD 19. These teams continue to be in the group expected at this Games.
