The Vietnamese men's basketball team is 1 of 18 teams participating in the first round of the Pre-Qualifiers Asian Cup 2029 (Pre-Qualifiers FIBA Asian Cup 2029).
18 teams have been drawn into 4 groups. Group A is held in the UAE with Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Nepal teams.
Group B is held in Kazakhstan with the teams Kazakhstan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Kyrgyzstan.
Group C includes teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong (China), Singapore will play in Malaysia, while Group D includes teams from Thailand, Mongolia, Vietnam, Fiji will play in Mongolia.
This is a tournament for the national team to compete in the 5x5 event.
The Vietnamese men's basketball team practiced the last session on August 27 before officially playing on August 28. We will meet the host team Mongolia in the first match.

The coaching staff has registered 12 players to go to Mongolia to play, including Dinh Thanh Tam, Dang Thai Hung, Vo Huy Hoan, Huynh Truc Nhan, Le Quang, Le Khac Dang Khoa, Huynh Thanh Tam, Huynh Vinh Quang, Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Dau Trung Kien, Nguyen Huynh Phu Vinh, Nguyen Anh Kiet.
At the end of the first round, the Organizing Committee will select 3 teams with the best results in each group to award tickets to the second round.
The Vietnamese men's basketball team holds the target to enter the 2nd round of this tournament.
After round 2, the 8 teams with the best results will win the right to advance to the official qualifying round for tickets to the 2029 Asian Cup.
