According to the plan, the VBA 2026 season will be played in a home-away format with the participation of 6 clubs including Hanoi Buffaloes, Danang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Ho Chi Minh City Wings, Saigon Heat and Cantho Catfish. In parallel with the official season, the organizers continue to implement the Draft Combine Series 2026 selection series to create opportunities for young athletes to access a professional competition environment.
In 2026, VBA will also coordinate with Grab Vietnam and the Vietnam Student Association to implement a number of activities aimed at developing the basketball movement in the student community. One of the key contents is to organize a nationwide "Student Summer Basketball Camp", creating a playground for basketball enthusiasts at universities and colleges.
According to the plan, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association plays the role of orienting and coordinating the system of Student Associations of provinces and cities and affiliated schools to participate in the program implementation. This activity is expected to contribute to expanding the school basketball movement and creating more opportunities for students to access sports.
Meanwhile, VBA takes on the role of professional organization for the program through building training content, connecting coaches and athletes to support professional expertise for participants. Through this, students have the opportunity to access a training environment with a professional orientation.
From the perspective of operating support, Grab plans to deploy solutions to serve the travel and living needs of students, athletes and organizing forces during the program, and coordinate the implementation of related communication activities.
In addition, Grab continues to accompany VBA in young player selection and development programs before the VBA 5x5 season 2026. Some activities to support fans when coming to the stadium to watch matches at 6 official stadium clusters nationwide are also expected to be implemented to improve the experience of watching the tournament.
According to the plan, the VBA 2026 season is expected to start from May 2026, continuing to play the role of a high-level professional basketball playground in the country, contributing to promoting the development of Vietnamese basketball from the grassroots level to the professional competition system.
