On July 20, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team departed from Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) on a flight of Vietnam National Airlines. After landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport (Bangkok), the whole team continued to travel by bus to Chonburi city, where the matches of the group stage took place.
Accompanying the team as Head of Delegation is Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Anh Tu.
Immediately after arriving in Chonburi, the team members quickly settled down and recovered their fitness after the journey. The whole team maintained a comfortable spirit, focusing on the opening match against the Timor-Leste team.
According to the plan, in the afternoon of July 21, the Vietnamese team will have their first training session in Thailand. This is an opportunity for the coaching staff to continue to improve professional plans before the confrontation with Timor-Leste on July 24.
This match is also the first away match of the Vietnamese national team in the ASEAN Cup 2026 group stage. After that, coach Kim Sang-sik's team will return home to welcome Singapore on July 31st, play away against Indonesia on August 3rd and close the group stage with a reception of Cambodia on August 7th.
The Vietnamese team still has a few days to prepare to complete the physical, tactical and squad factors, aiming for a favorable result on the opening day of the ASEAN Cup 2026.
