On the evening of September 23, at Military Region 7 Gymnasium (HCMC), the final round of the 2025 10-a-side Men's 10 men's World Championship continued with a series of winning branches to determine the first 16 players to participate in the Last 32 direct qualifying round.
In particular, Duong Quoc Hoang had a dramatic match against Japanese player Naoyuki Oi. After losing the first set 0-1, Vietnam's number 1 player managed to regain control of the game, winning overwhelmingly 4-1 in set 2 to equalize the score. Entering the deciding set, the two players must determine the winner by a penalty shootout. Here, Quoc Hoang successfully completed all 4 rounds, while his opponent only reached 3, thereby winning the final round and officially participating in the Last 32 round.
Meanwhile, his teammate Pham Phuong Nam could not overcome Jeffrey De Luna (Philippines), accepting a 0-2 loss. However, this young player still has a chance to continue if he wins against Moritz Neuhausen (Germany) in the loss on September 24.
In the winning round, leading candidates such as Ko Pin Yi, Shane Van Boening, Ko Ping Chung all affirmed their strength. The highlight match between defending champion Carlo Biado and Ko Ping Chung ended with a victory for the Taiwanese player (China).
