On the afternoon of August 9, at Hoa Xuan Athletics Stadium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City held the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 National Athletics Championship.
This is the most important tournament in the system of national Athletics tournaments, gathering the large participation of nearly 700 coaches and athletes from 30 newly reorganized administrative units and 2 branches of the Army and Police.
The tournament took place from August 9 to 13, including many competitions for men, women and relay, with a total of 50 sets of medals. Hoa Xuan Athletics Center will be a place for athletes to compete in the events of running, jumping, throwing and pushing.
This is an opportunity for localities and sports sectors to evaluate the training and coaching of athletes, and at the same time select additional forces for the national team to participate in international tournaments, especially the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December 2025.
This year's tournament marks 15 years since Da Nang hosted the 6th National Sports Festival in 2010. In recent times, Da Nang has become a destination for many high-performance sporting events and annual international tournaments such as Da Nang International Marathon, Ironman 70.3 Vietnam.
In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City affirmed: " Athletics - the foundational sport of the Olympics is always a place to test the will, strength and aspiration to rise up.
The Organizing Committee hopes that with the preparation of the best possible conditions, the athletes will participate actively and wholeheartedly in the competition, the members of the Organizing Committee, the referees will work seriously, ensuring compliance with the rules in the process of operating the competition distances to ensure the success of the tournament".
