On June 8, in Ly Son island district, Quang Ngai province, the Ly Son Cross Island Seafood Swimming Tournament 2025 took place.
Nearly 600 athletes participated in the Ly Son Sea-crossing Swimming Tournament, including nearly 60 international athletes from 14 countries competing.
The Ly Son Sea Swimming Tournament is considered the largest in Vietnam, maintaining competition events with 3 distances: 1km, 2km and 5km.The contest was exciting, attractive, and impressive on the Ly Son island swimming route, Quang Ngai province.
The swimming path across the Ly Son Sea connecting the Big Island and the Be Island has a mysterious beauty that any swimmer wants to conquer. To Vo Gate, a spectacular landscape famous for its long marshes, is the starting point for the 5km swimming distance. More than 310 athletes departed from the Big Island at dawn and swam across the sea to Be Island to conquer the swimming route.
On the side of Be Island (An Binh Commune), more than 270 athletes competing at 2km and 1km distances started at the front yard to enter the swimming track.
To ensure the competition, the Organizing Committee has developed a strict rescue plan. The authorities have arranged 8 canoes to transport athletes across Be Island, along with 4 wooden boats and 4 functional boats to support medical and rescue on the track, closely following and ensuring safety for athletes. In addition, there are 30 motorized basket boats arranged evenly on the entire swimming path, moving alternately with athletes.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, Secretary of Ly Son District Party Committee, said: The Ly Son Sea Swimming Tournament is not purely a sporting event but also an event that integrates culture, sports and tourism.
The goal is to build the Sea-crossing Swimming Tournament into a national brand.When talking about Ly Son, people will think about this sport.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the best athletes in the men's and women's categories of 3 distances.
