Bac Ninh Provincial Gymnasium will be chosen as the venue for the 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championship.
The Vietnam Judo Federation has been awarded the right to host the above tournament by the Southeast Asian Judo Federation. This is also an important international tournament that Vietnam judo will organize this year at home.
The Southeast Asian Judo Federation and the Vietnam Judo Federation will inspect the facilities of the Bac Ninh provincial gymnasium before the tournament is held.
According to the plan, 9 regional teams will come to Vietnam to compete in this tournament. The organizers include events for combat and performance (kata) in the 2026 Southeast Asian Judo Championship for men and women. Many events are included in the ASIAD 20 competition program.
The most recent international tournament that the Vietnamese judo team competed in was SEA Games 33 in Thailand at the end of last year. At this Games, the Vietnamese judo team only won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 8 bronze medals.
In April, the Vietnamese judo team will participate in the 2026 Asian Championship in China. After the above tournament, the martial artists will prepare for the Southeast Asian Championship at home.
Last year, the Vietnamese judo team ranked first overall at the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship held in the Philippines.
