Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has just issued Plan No. 690/KH-UBND on organizing the Dat Sen Hong - Dong Thap Marathon in 2026. This year's event is officially named "VPBank Dat Sen Hong Music Marathon 2026", with the theme "Pioneering - Breakthrough".
According to the plan, the tournament will take place from October 9-11, 2026 in Cao Lanh, expected to attract about 15,000 athletes to participate in the 42 km, 21 km, 10 km and 5 km distances; including about 2,000 young athletes.
The opening ceremony is expected to be held at 6 pm on October 10, 2026, at Van Mieu Square. Participants are Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who are legally living and working in Vietnam, meeting all health conditions according to regulations. Registration time is from July 24 to the end of September 25, 2026.
In addition to the competition content, the organizers also deploy many cultural, tourism and experiential activities for people and tourists in the Van Mieu Square area. In which, there is an OCOP product display space, introducing local specialties, a Southern culinary area with the theme "Homeland flavor converges", along with digital communication activities and QR code scanning experiences to explore famous destinations of Dong Thap.
The highlight of this year's season is a series of music programs and cultural exchanges organized throughout from the main stage to mobile music stations arranged along the running routes, creating a lively atmosphere for athletes and audiences.
In addition to its sports and local tourism promotion significance, the tournament also aims at community activities by integrating a program to mobilize and support funding for the project to conserve and develop red-crowned cranes in Tram Chim National Park.
