On the evening of October 14, at Thong Nhat Stadium, the Vietnam team won 1-0 against the Nepal team in the 4th match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The three points helped coach Kim Sang-sik and his team continue to maintain the second place in Group F with 9 points, 3 points behind the top team Malaysia.
Notably, in the second leg against the Nepal team, coach Kim Sang-sik included many young players from the U23 team in the list.
These include goalkeeper Trung Kien, defender Hieu Minh, ... Speaking at the post-match press conference, coach Kim Sang-sik gave many compliments to these players.

"Today, Hieu Minh, Thanh Nhan, Trung Kien were on the field. This is not a reward for them, but the result of the recent process, when they have shown enough ability to compete with players who have played for the national team. Through that competition, the players can help the team operate the game better.
Hieu Minh performed well and calmly in defense. I want to give compliments to Hieu Minh and Trung Kien. In the second half, Van Khang and Dinh Bac also performed well. I want to congratulate the U23 players for their impressive performances," coach Kim Sang-sik shared.

Regarding the result of the match, coach Kim Sang-sik expressed regret. He said: "Today's weather is not good, it's a pity that we didn't score many goals.
However, the whole team won and that is the joy I want to send to the fans. Due to bad weather conditions, we could not show all that we had set out, that is a pity. However, with today's victory, the team has fulfilled its set goals.
This is also a home stadium, so in some aspects we can be better than our opponents. However, when given the opportunity to score, the players still did not make good use of it, and there were some regrets and haste in handling situations. In the second half, some players were exhausted so they could not show all the things we wanted."
Regarding the performance of striker Nguyen Tien Linh in this match, coach Kim Sang-sik commented: "I have not discussed with Tien Linh. There were some good situations in front of the goal today but it was a pity that we could not score.
I am very regretful. For the player himself, especially Tien Linh, missing such opportunities also made him regretful. Tien Linh has the ability to finish and head well, moving reasonably in the penalty area. I hope that in the match against Laos next month, Tien Linh will have his own goal".
In the next round of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, the Vietnam team will travel to the Laos team's field on November 19.
