Table Tennis Championship has been a traditional event competing for the VTV8 Cup for the seventh time in 2024, taking place at the Tiên Sơn Sports Arena, Da Nang City. The event is jointly organized by VTV8 National Television Channel, Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, and the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation.
This is one of the meaningful activities to welcome the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024).
In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - Director of the Central Region - Central Highlands Sports Center - said that in the context of the table tennis sport having limited playgrounds, both professional and amateur, the traditional Table Tennis Championship competing for the VTV8 Cup has been held annually since 2016 to date.
"The championship has brought a healthy and meaningful playground, where clubs, table tennis enthusiasts, professional athletes, and coaches can exchange expertise, contributing to promoting the development of table tennis nationwide," Mr. Thanh said.
Following the success of previous events, the 2024 season attracted over 300 coaches and athletes from nearly 80 clubs and teams across the country, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Can Tho, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Nghe An...
Notably, many top players who have won SEA Games titles, national team members, and international masters such as Nguyen Anh Tu, Dinh Anh Hoang, Nguyen Duc Tuân, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, Mai Hoang My Trang, Nguyen Dang Hieu, Tran Huy Bao, and Pham Thanh Son have registered and participated in this exciting event.
A unique feature of the tournament is the distinctive scoring system, which creates a balance between players of all levels, promising thrilling matches until the very end.
The final round of the professional singles, doubles, and award ceremony will take place on August 11.
