Hanoi Police coach: "We should have had 3 points"

Coach Mano Polking of Hanoi Police expressed regret not being able to beat Beijing Guoan.

In the opening match of the AFC Champions League Two 2025-2026, Hanoi Police left many regrets when they only won a 2-2 draw at Beijing Guoan.

The Vietnamese representative showed an overwhelming game when launching 29 shots, including 9 of which hit the goal. Meanwhile, the home team only had 11 shots and 4 shots on target. However, individual mistakes in the defense, especially from goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, caused Hanoi Police to lose the victory.

Speaking after the match, coach Mano Polking could not hide his regret: "The players played with great effort, pressing strongly and controlling the game. With this performance, we should have had 3 points. However, 1 point still helps the team maintain their chances in the group. What I am most satisfied with is the spirit and perseverance that the players have shown.

In fact, Hanoi Police have missed many clear opportunities. Dinh Bac had a situation to face but could not score, Alves dos Santos also finished too lightly in a favorable position. 29 shots into the goal but only earned 2 goals, while conceding from unnecessary shots, causing coach Polking's team to lose the advantage.

Another notable highlight is the absence of Nguyen Quang Hai. Coach Polking said that this midfielder has not recovered from his injury yet and needs more time to recover, so the coaching staff decided to let him stay in Hanoi instead of going to China.

The draw put Hanoi Police temporarily in 2nd place in Group E along with Beijing Guoan.
