On the morning of September 19, a day after the incident of "the general ordered to beat the coffee shop staff for being reminded not to smoke" caused outrage on social networks, the location of T6 coffee shop (Hanoi) was crowded with customers. Many people come to drink coffee both out of curiosity and because the restaurant is launching a beverage promotion program.
At around 10:30 a.m. the same day, Nguyen Van Thien (born in 1998) - the person who ordered the assault on the employee - went to the restaurant to meet and apologize.
At the coffee shop, Thien talked to Mrs. X., the victim's mother. However, Ms. X. expressed her anger, affirming that "it's too late to apologize" and asked Thien to leave.
"If you ask us out, you won't let us go. I pointed to the staff to beat my child, now it's too late to apologize," said Ms. X.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 18, when the incident spread strongly on social networks, Nguyen Van Thien continuously posted explanations and apologized on his personal Facebook page.
According to Thien, while sitting in the shop, a member of his group quit smoking, causing the hotpot to get stuck, so he gave it to him for a check-up. Thien used toothpick and blown it into the hotpot, denying smoking. At that time, the restaurant staff reminded me not to smoke, but I didnt think they were talking about me. After that, the staff continued to have difficult words to listen to, so I was startled, Thien explained.
Nguyen Van Thien admitted that he signaled his younger brother Vu - the person who directly assaulted the staff - to come to the cashier to talk, then a fight broke out. He thought that M.D. (the restaurant owner's son) was acted upon, holding hands as if preparing to attack, so Vu took action.
However, in the video published by the coffee shop, Vu immediately swung his arm at M.D.'s face as soon as he arrived, while the victim did not threaten.
