On the evening of October 9, at Binh Duong Stadium (Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the Nepal team suffered a 1-3 defeat to the Vietnam team in the third match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Despite the defeat, Nepal coach Matt Ross still praised the players. He said: "Congratulations to the Vietnamese team for their convincing victory. The turning point of the match was a red card.
I am proud of the players, who were still tied 1-1 after being behind, proving that the players reacted well in difficult situations. The Vietnamese team is of equal quality from goalkeeper to striker, so victory is inevitable. We will still prepare carefully for the next match".

"We defended well. In fact, the Vietnamese team probably won more, 6-1 for example. The important thing is that my players tried to prevent the Vietnamese team from getting on the ball. They only cross the ball mainly. Playing with 10 people for 50 minutes is not easy, so that way of playing is the best option we can use.
We are still innocent at some points. For example, the situation of being given a red card, and the dribbling moves. Tactically, I'm satisfied with the players. But we still have to learn from experience, especially in set pieces.
I think when we have enough people, we can fight fairly. The young players need to accumulate more experience to develop more," coach Matt Ross added.
With 3 consecutive losses, the Nepal team continues to be at the bottom of the rankings without any points. On October 14, Nepal will have a rematch of the Vietnam team at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).
