Coach Troussier will lead the legendary Japanese team in a charity match called United Through Legends. The match takes place on June 27 at Panasonic Stadium Suita, Osaka (Japan), between Japanese football legends and the former professional team that once played for AS Monaco.
This is an activity initiated by the non-profit organization Barbagiuans Monaco. All donations from the match will be used to help victims affected by the earthquake in Noto Peninsula (Japan) in 2024, while supporting a number of other charitable activities.
One of the special figures of the event is Japanese national team player Minamino Takumi - a player playing for AS Monaco.
Returning to the role of coach for the first time since leaving the hot seat of the Vietnam national team in March 2024, Mr. Philippe Troussier will lead the legendary Japanese team with a squad of outstanding players such as: Keisuke Honda, Daisuke Matsui, Yuta Minami, Yosuke Kashiwagi, Yoichiro Kakitani, Takayuki Suzuki, Teruyuki Moniwa, Yuji Nakazawa, Masahiko Inoha, Kosuke, Yuki Otsu, Takashi Fukunishi, Hideo Hashimoto, Hirshi Nanami and Akira Kaji.
The legendary Monaco team also owns famous names in world football such as: Marcel Desailly, Robert Pires, Ludovic Giuly, Patrice Evra, Clarence Seedorf, Eric Abidal, dirar Nabil, Flavio Roma, Sebastien Squillaci, Gael give giveet, Camel Meriem, Olivier Veigneau, Tony Czech, Kevin Diaz and Louis Ducruet.
Mr. Philippe Troussier has been the head coach of the national team and U23 Vietnam since March 2023. During his time in charge, he helped U23 Vietnam win the bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games and bring the team to the 2024 U23 Asian Cup finals.
However, he was not successful with the national team when Vietnam was eliminated early in the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup and did not pass the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
