On November 13, Vietnam Television (VTV9) in Ho Chi Minh City (VTV9) and Vietnam Cable Corporation (VTVcab) officially announced a cooperation agreement to exploit the broadcasting rights of Europe's leading men's football tournaments, including Serie A (Italy), Ligue 1 (France), UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League.
The announcement ceremony took place at the Vietnam Sports Center in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of representatives of the two units' leaders, media partners, sports reporters and many famous faces in the field of commentary and sports content production.
According to the agreement, VTV9 will become the only national television channel currently broadcasting free promotions of European football tournaments. This is considered an important step forward in expanding the opportunity to access top-notch football to a large audience, especially those who have not used pay TV services.
In the first phase, VTV9 plans to broadcast 1 match/week of Serie A and Ligue 1. The matches of the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League will be broadcast live at 22:30 and 0:45 and 3:00 (Vietnam time). The first match on VTV9 will take place at 9:00 p.m. on November 22, 2025, between Udinese and Bologna in round 12 of Serie A.
In addition to live broadcasting, VTV9 will produce commentary programs, minigame and behind-the-scenes videos in Southern style, aiming to create a close, lively atmosphere and connect audiences with European football.
The cooperation between VTV9 and VTVcab not only affirms the role of the national television channel in the Southern region in bringing quality entertainment value, but also creates a foundation for developing interactive sports programs, aiming to build a multi-dimensional football watching experience for fans nationwide.
