On November 13, the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune (Quang Tri province) announced that it had just issued a document transferring the administrative violation file related to the suspected food poisoning case that occurred at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and handling according to its authority.
According to the records, Mr. Do Van My - Principal, the school's legal representative, signed a contract with the food supplier to prepare "storage bird's nest" in the boarding kitchen. After the meal, 41 students showed symptoms of poisoning and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
Test results from the Pasteur Nha Trang Institute determined that the braised poultry sample was positive for Bacillus cereus, a bacteria that causes food poisoning.
Mr. My was determined to not have a certificate of training in food safety knowledge; at the same time, he used 2 direct processing staff who had not been trained in food safety.
Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee has agreed to transfer the entire case file to the Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee for consideration and issuance of a decision to sanction administrative violations according to regulations.
The incident is also controversial because a clip recorded the scene where Vice Principal, Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue, was accused of preventing students from going to the hospital despite medical staff's request for an urgent transfer. Ms. Hue is the main kitchen manager of the school. After that, Ms. Hue was suspended by the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune twice in a row for being involved in the incident.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of September 26, after breakfast at school, 40 students showed symptoms of nausea and abdominal pain and were taken to the emergency room. Up to now, their health has stabilized.
