Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, champion Dang Thu Huong said that she suffered a foot injury during the competition, but still made efforts to complete the events with her dance partner Phan Hien to win 3 gold medals at the 2026 Southeast Asian DanceSport Championships.
At the 2026 Southeast Asian DanceSport Championship, the duo Dang Thu Huong - Phan Hien continued to affirm their role as pillars of the Vietnamese DanceSport team when winning 3 gold medals in the participating events, making important contributions to the overall achievements of the team.

After the tournament ended, images of Dang Thu Huong's right foot bandaged in many positions received attention from fans.
Master Dang Thu Huong said: "I have my legs fixed because my ankle ligaments are weak. The competition floor in the Philippines has many layers of rubber, so when jumping, it will sink.
In 22 years of competition, I have never encountered such a floor. Athletes all face the same difficulties as me. When fixing my leg, it hurts a bit. My leg bleeded because the floor subsided, I had to press my toes on the floor more often.

Despite having problems with the competition floor, the pair of athletes Thu Huong - Phan Hien still showed stable performance at the regional tournament, thereby continuing to maintain the position of Vietnamese DanceSport in Southeast Asia.
The achievement of 3 gold medals of the duo also contributes to creating motivation for young athletes in the national DanceSport training system, and is also an important preparation step towards the next international tasks in 2026.
