The highlight of the first day of competition was the outstanding achievement of the pair of athletes Phan Hien - Dang Thu Huong when they won 3 gold medals in Latin categories. This result contributed importantly to helping the Vietnamese team create an advantage in the medal race with delegations in the region.
Previously, this pair of athletes was in the top 10 of the WDSF World Open Latin 2024 event in the Czech Republic and is currently in the top group of the world rankings in the Latin event, showing stability in form in the international arena.
In other Latin events, the pair Ngoc An - To Uyen won 2 silver medals at Cha Cha Cha and Rumba, and also had 1 bronze medal in the all-around Latin event. In addition, this athlete pair also ranked third overall in the Adult Latin event under the WDSF system.
Not only maintaining the advantage in Latin, the Standard events of the Vietnamese team also recorded many positive results. The pair Minh Truong - Xuan won 2 gold medals (Waltz, Slow Foxtrot) and 1 silver medal in the Standard all-around event. Meanwhile, Quoc Bao - Minh Chau won a gold medal in the Viennese Waltz event; Trung Thuc - Ngoc Anh won 2 silver medals in Tango and Quickstep.
In the singles and age group events, the Vietnamese team continued to have more notable achievements when Hoang Ngoc won a silver medal in the adult women's singles; Hoang My Sasaki won a silver medal in the junior women's singles II. Some other athletes such as Le Mai Thu, Ta Lien Giang and the pair Hoang Tuan - Thuc Lam successively entered the high-ranking group in the junior and Rising Stars events.
Today (April 19), Vietnamese athletes continue to enter the contents belonging to the international ranking championship system, with the expectation of continuing to increase their achievements in the medal standings.
