The tournament will take place in Riyadh from November 2 to 8. This is considered a national team level electronic chess arena, gathering 128 strong players from around the world to compete.
Notably, Le Tuan Minh was specially admitted to the final round without having to compete in the qualifying round. The Vietnamese player meets the criteria for consideration when he is in the group of 64 players leading the Champions Chess Tour (CCT) rankings. According to the regulations of the organizers, each country only has one representative considered according to this ranking.
In addition, each country or territory is allowed to register a maximum of 2 chess players to participate, so Vietnamese chess still has the opportunity to have more representatives at this year's tournament.
In recent years, the form of chess competition on e-sports platforms has been increasingly developed. Chess players do not compete directly on traditional chess boards but compete through computer systems, performance stages and technology similar to professional e-sports tournaments.
Many leading Vietnamese chess players such as Le Quang Liem or Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son have expressed their support for the new model of modern chess. Among them, Le Quang Liem has also won a ticket to participate in the 2026 World Esports Cup.
Le Tuan Minh was born in 1996, currently the No. 3 Vietnamese player on the FIDE rankings. He owns standard chess elo 2.585, rapid chess 2.505 and blitz chess 2.576.
For many years, Le Tuan Minh has regularly participated with Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son in international team tournaments such as Olympiad or Asian Intellectual Games.
Previously, the player born in 1996 won a gold medal in rapid chess at the 2025 Asian Intellectual Games, and also made a "hat-trick" of gold medals at the 2026 National Chess Championships.
