According to registration with the Organizing Committee, the Vietnamese Chess Team has 5 chess players participating in the competition including Luong Phuong Hanh, Nguyen Thanh Thuy Tien (female), Dinh Nho Kiet, Dau Khuong Duy, Pham Tran Gia Phuc (male).
The 2026 Asian Championship is held in Mongolia from May 28 to June 7.
This is a tournament competing in individual standard chess with male and female groups. Chess players will compete in 9 games according to the Swiss system. The Asian Chess Championship is an annual competition program of the Asian Chess Federation.
The women's group of this year's tournament will have 103 players participating, while the men's group has 146 players. The entire tournament has 46 international grandmasters participating. The 5-player squad of Vietnamese chess has 1 international grandmaster, Luong Phuong Hanh.
The Asian Chess Federation has announced a prize fund of up to 100,000 USD for the entire tournament. Among them, the male champion will receive 15,000 USD (nearly 400 million VND) and the women's champion will receive 12,000 USD (more than 300 million VND). The first games of the tournament started on May 29.
Currently, Vietnamese chess is carefully considering the forces participating in the 2026 World Team Championship held in Uzbekistan in September.
The Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Chess Federation have not yet decided the official list of 5 male and 5 female players participating in the above tournament.
