On June 6, in the Ly Son special zone, the SUP Vietnam Cheo Festival 2026 officially kicked off. This is one of the outstanding activities within the framework of the Quang Ngai Tourism Festival 2026, contributing to promoting the image of Ly Son sea and islands to domestic and foreign tourists.
From early morning, the athletes entered the competition on the race track starting from To Vo Gate, towards the An Vinh overpass area.
In favorable weather conditions, the clear blue sea and unique natural scenery of the frontline island of Ly Son created exciting and attractive competitions.
This year's festival includes many competition events such as 200m, 2,000m, 5,000m and team events. Athletes have shown skills, endurance and determined fighting spirit, bringing dramatic and emotional races to viewers.
Not only is it a playground for people who love standing paddleboarding (SUP), the festival also creates opportunities for tourists to experience the natural beauty of Ly Son island from a new perspective. A large number of people and tourists were present to cheer, contributing to creating a vibrant atmosphere for the event.
One of the activities that attracts the attention of athletes and tourists at the festival is the traditional basket boat rowing event. The teams are paired between local people with rich sea experience and professional athletes of SUP rowing.
This unique combination brought moments of fun and excitement on the sea surface of Ly Son. For many athletes, this is the first time they have experienced controlling basket boats - a means of transport associated with the lives of coastal fishermen.
The activity not only creates an interesting exchange playground but also contributes to introducing the unique cultural features of the sea and island residents of Ly Son to domestic and international friends.
This is the first time Ly Son has hosted the SUP Vietnam Cheo Festival. Through the event, the Organizing Committee hopes to create more unique sports tourism products, promoting the image of dynamic, friendly and potentially rich Ly Son to domestic and international tourists.
