The Vietnam women's volleyball team will have their opening match against Poland in Group G, the 2025 World Volleyball Championship.
This is a huge challenge for Thanh Thuy and her teammates, as the Polish women's team is ranked 3rd in the world, behind only Italy and Brazil. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's team is 22nd on the rankings, which is 19 places behind their opponents - a big gap.
A testament to Poland's remarkable strength. That is, in the last 3 seasons of the VNL (FIVB Nations League), they all finished in 3rd place overall. Therefore, the European representative is considered one of the candidates for the world championship this year.
In addition, Poland has a squad of players with impressive heights, such as Magdalena Stysiak (2m03), Agnieszka Korneluk (2m), Weronika Centka-Tietianiac (1m93) or Martyna Czyrnianska (1m93). Therefore, being able to get past the blocking line or neutralize the smashes from the opponent is a difficult problem for the Vietnam women's team.
Not to mention, the Vietnamese squad participating in the tournament is missing hitter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. This more or less affects the strength of the home team. However, the coaching staff has had specific plans to focus on this position, while also adjusting tactics and playing style.
In addition to the result, the match against Poland is also meaningful. Those will be the lessons that Thanh Thuy and her teammates have accumulated to prepare for the upcoming luggage.
