Phase 2 of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship will start on November 7 in Lao Cai. Currently, the teams have almost completed the preparation of personnel, starting the training process, practicing tactics, and how to play smoothly and effectively in the upcoming matches.
The reigning champion LPB Ninh Binh continues to be the number 1 candidate for the queen of this year's tournament. In particular, phase 2 is the time when coach Thai Thanh Tung's team must both focus on the domestic arena and gain experience and accumulate for the 2024 World Club Championship taking place this coming December.
According to the draw results of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), Bich Tuyen and her teammates are in group B with Imoco Conegliano (Italy), Praia Clube (Brazil) and NEC Red Rockets (Japan) in the world-level tournament.
Vietnam's representative will meet NEC Red Rockets (Japan) - a familiar opponent they met at the 2024 Asian Club Championship; compete with top stars such as Zhu Ting, Haak, Gabriela Guimaraes (Gabi); and face the world's number 1 team Imoco Conegliano.
It will be a very difficult group for LPB Ninh Binh. The goal of this tournament for the Ancient Capital team is certainly to exchange, learn, and gain experience when facing directly with the world's top teams, thereby gaining more lessons to progress in the next tournaments in 2025.
To have quality matches and make a mark at the world level, LPB Ninh Binh needs to compete hard, taking the upcoming national championship as a stepping stone towards the 2024 World Club Championship.
Currently, this team is having a training trip in Thailand. Here, Bich Tuyen and her teammates will have some friendly matches with volleyball teams from the land of the Golden Temple. Through these training matches, coach Thai Thanh Tung will find the main squad for the upcoming phase 2.
However, some faces are certainly still important factors for the defending champion. The opposite setter position and captain's armband still belongs to none other than Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. The middle blocker pair of LPB Ninh Binh is also unlikely to change with the presence of two national players, Le Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Trinh.
Nguyen Thi Hoai Mi will still be the team's number 1 setter thanks to her understanding with the surrounding satellites, especially the close connection with Bich Tuyen. In addition, foreign player Warisara will be a highly anticipated player as the Thai foreign player showed impressive performance in the recent Asian Club Championship.
After phase 1, LPB Ninh Binh is in 3rd place with 10 points (3 wins, 1 loss). In phase 2, coach Thai Quang Lai and his team will face Quang Ninh, Duc Giang Chemicals, VTV Binh Dien Long An and the Information Corps.
