When the tournament first started, Indonesia dominated the confrontations with Vietnam with two wins in the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
However, after that, Vietnam became stronger than Indonesia. From 2009 to 2017, Vietnam won 5 times against Indonesia and lost 1 time to its opponent.
