Information from the volleyball department (Department of Physical Training and Sports) said that Vietnam will register to participate in all 4 volleyball events at the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand: men's and women's volleyball (indoor) and men's and women's volleyball (beach).
Mr. Le Tri Truong - General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) said that the goal of the men's and women's indoor volleyball teams is to reach the finals at this year's Congress.
However, considering that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has competed and achieved impressive results in two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Training and Sports have specifically considered and decided to assign the target that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team must reach the final of the 33rd SEA Games and win the gold medal.
This is a difficult task for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team because in addition to the formidable opponent Thailand, Vietnam also has to overcome other teams that have also made significant impressions recently, such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
To achieve the goal, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet needs to have the best personnel on hand.
The players who will compete in 2024 are mostly quite young. They still have many opportunities to contribute in 2024, typically Bich Tuyen, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Tra My. These are players born from 2000 onwards, entering the prime of their careers, promising to play even more explosively in the future.
In addition, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also has a source of quality from the young players of the Vietnamese women's U21 team. Under the guidance of coach Nguyen Trong Linh, in 2024, the Vietnamese women's U20 volleyball team won a ticket to the 2025 U21 World Championship.
In the journey to win tickets to the world arena, many promising young faces such as Dang Thi Hong, Pham Quynh Huong, Nguyen Lan Vy, Nguyen Van Ha, Le Thuy Linh, Pham Khanh Lam... have shown their mark. This is also a talented generation of Vietnamese volleyball players, who have performed quite well for their clubs in the 2024 National Youth Tournament and the 2024 National U23 Volleyball Tournament.
This will certainly be a source of quality personnel for the national team at the 33rd SEA Games. The young U21 players will participate in the world championship in August, while the 33rd SEA Games will take place in December. If Dang Thi Hong, Quynh Huong... have the opportunity to compete and make their mark at the U21 World Championship, accumulating experience, it is possible that they will be added to prepare for the year-end Congress.
Previously, VFV defended its position that after the 2024 Asian Youth Championship, the management will implement a plan to focus on training the national U20 youth volleyball team again from the beginning of 2025.
The appropriate and necessary concentration is the responsibility of each national volleyball team's coaching staff. To ensure thorough preparation and aim for high results, the national women's volleyball team and the youth team need to gather early to start training and improving their skills for a busy 2025.
