VTV Binh Dien Long An plays at home
The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) has recently announced that the 2025 Asian Club Championship will be held in Vietnam. The tournament will take place from April 20 to April 27.
This is quite surprising information because previously, many sources said that Korea would host the tournament.
If nothing changes, Vietnam's representative in this year's continental arena will be the reigning national champion VTV Binh Dien Long An.
In two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, Vietnamese representatives competed very successfully in this arena when Sport Center 1 (another name for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team) won the championship in 2023 and LPB Ninh Binh won the runner-up position in 2024.
Women's team must win gold at SEA Games 33
Mr. Le Tri Truong - General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) said that in 2025, Vietnamese volleyball will participate in many tournaments but the focus is the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
Vietnam still targets silver medals at the SEA Games for both the men's and women's teams. However, this year, the Department of Sports and Physical Training has requested that the target for the Vietnamese women's team be a gold medal.
This is not an easy task for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team as Thailand still has a stronger force than Vietnam in terms of both physical strength and technical factors. However, the great responsibility will be the motivation for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to strive.
Libero Thanh Lien coaches the youth team
A few days ago, libero Thanh Lien announced that she would temporarily put her playing career on hold to focus on other personal plans as well as take care of her family.
She said: "After pausing my athletic career, I switched to coaching for the club's youth team. This also caused me a bit of difficulty.
When I was an athlete, I didn't have to think much about other issues, I just focused on training and competing. But when I became a coach, I still had many shortcomings and I had to learn from scratch.
I am trying to research and learn from previous coaches to gain experience for myself and do my current job well. This is also the first step when I take on a new position with many obstacles and challenges."
