Thanh Thuy had her first minutes of playing in the Turkish women's volleyball club, Kuzeyboru, in a friendly tournament for 13 minutes, to be exact, in the match against Zeren SK and it is not an exaggeration to say that this was the time when Vietnamese fans commented most enthusiastically (the match was broadcast live on Zeren SK's YouTube channel).
The feeling of waiting for the first Vietnamese volleyball player to compete in Europe was certainly exciting, but as soon as the match started, and then the first set ended without Thanh Thuy in the starting lineup, negative comments began to appear. Until the 1997-born player entered the field, the truly negative reactions continued.
Criticisms from coaches, teammates, and even the Vietnamese national female player herself… from many people. When coach Park Hang-seo said that Vietnamese football fans only “love winning football”, this can also be applied to volleyball fans and many other sports.
Of course, there are people who watch not only to watch sports, cheer for their favorite team or star, but also for other purposes - to create controversy, to cause "war" between fan groups, but sometimes, there is also extreme competitiveness, when considering Vietnamese athletes as the best, no matter where they go, in any circumstance.
What level is Vietnamese sports at? What level are Vietnamese athletes at? One thing that can be seen in common among many fans is impatience with any process, even in a match or the stage when a new element needs to integrate into the team or the team's achievements...
When Vietnamese athletes are still “groping” step by step in a new horizon, what they need is encouragement, support, help to create motivation and confidence, especially when competing with very high-quality opponents. If you can’t help, you should ask yourself what you have done similarly? If not, then keep quiet and don’t be quick to judge.
