On the night of September 14 (Vietnam time), Kuzeyboru club lost 1-3 to host Zeren SK at the Ahmet Goksu friendly women's volleyball tournament.
In the last match, main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was not in the starting lineup. Kuzeyboru Club took the lead and won the first set with a score of 25-19. However, this team lost the game in the next set and was tied 1-1 by the opponent.
In set 3, coach Mehmet Bedestenlioglu decided to send Thanh Thuy onto the field. Vietnam's main attacker impressed with her ability to catch the first step accurately. Thanh Thuy's appearance helped strengthen Kuzeyboru's back row.
Besides, the 1997-born player also actively moved, asked for the ball, and encouraged his teammates after each loss. However, coach Mehmet's team still could not have a good game against a focused and even Zeren SK, so they lost 14-25 in set 3.
Entering set 4, coach Mehmet used the starting lineup so Thanh Thuy continued to be on the bench. With many bad first-step situations, Kuzeyboru club lost this set, thereby accepting a 1-3 defeat against Zeren SK (25-19, 14-25, 14-25, 19-25).
Thanh Thuy's total playing time in this match was 13 minutes. Her relatively short playing time and the fact that she did not receive many balls from the setter clearly does not say much. Because she joined the team late and is in the process of recovering from an injury, this is still a good sign for Vietnam's number 1 striker.
The recent match also marked the first time in history that a Vietnamese volleyball player played for a club in Türkiye - considered a volleyball powerhouse in the world.
Thanh Thuy and her teammates still have one match left in this tournament, which is the match between Kuzeyboru and Aras Kargo, taking place at 5:00 p.m. today (September 15, Vietnam time).
