After being checked and re-evaluated for the injury, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese national team decided to let midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa return to the club to continue treatment, instead of continuing to focus on preparing for the ASEAN Cup 2026.
Dang Khoa suffered an injury when he was still playing at the club. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results showed that the midfielder born in 2007 suffered a grade 2 chin tear. During the time of training with the national team, this player could not participate in professional training sessions but only performed recovery and physical therapy according to the protocol of the medical department.
According to the assessment of doctors, if he continues to practice and compete when the injury has not fully recovered, Dang Khoa is at risk of a grade 3 subcutaneous cartilage tear, forcing surgical intervention.
At noon on June 27, coach Kim Sang-sik directly exchanged with Ngo Dang Khoa. After agreeing with the players and the medical department, the coaching staff decided to create conditions for the young midfielder to return to the club to monitor, treat and recover the injury in the best way.
Ngo Dang Khoa is one of the three faces who were first called up to the Vietnamese national team in the gathering to prepare for the ASEAN Cup 2026.
Although he has not had the opportunity to train and play with his teammates due to injury, being given the opportunity in the national team is still considered a memorable milestone in the 19-year-old player's career.
Returning to the club is expected to help Ngo Dang Khoa recover soon to continue developing and compete for opportunities to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey in the next training camps.
