The Vietnamese national team is gathering in Hanoi to prepare for the ASEAN Cup 2026 taking place at the end of July. Despite the hot weather with temperatures at times approaching 40 degrees Celsius, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team still maintain high intensity training to complete tactical plans.
Returning to the national team after a successful season with the club with the V.League championship and the title "Best Player of the Tournament", Quang Hai pays special attention to new players who are called up for the first time.
The midfielder born in 1997 shared: "You are all very professional players and we are not unfamiliar with each other. In common activities or when going for coffee, the atmosphere is very comfortable. Of course, each individual has their own pressure when wearing the national team jersey. Veteran players like us will try to connect and help the new players so that the whole team can soon become the best team.
Notably, Quang Hai also mentioned the case of new player Nguyen Tai Loc (Geovane Magno). The midfielder of Hanoi Police said that he did not have much difficulty getting to know his new teammates because the two used to play together at Hanoi FC and Hanoi Police.
Quang Hai humorously said that what makes him feel new is only the name Nguyen Tai Loc, and the playing style of this player is not unfamiliar.
Besides professional issues, the hot weather in Hanoi is also creating certain challenges for the players. Quang Hai admitted that harsh weather conditions make the players consume more energy, but the whole team is trying to adapt to complete the lesson plans set out by the coaching staff well.
According to the plan, after the gathering phase in Hanoi, the Vietnamese national team will go to South Korea for training for about two weeks in early July to complete the preparation for the ASEAN Cup 2026.
Regarding the absence of midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa in the two recent training sessions, Quang Hai said: "After a V.League season that lasted fiercely on many fronts, it is completely normal for some players to suffer minor injuries and need time to recover. Surely in the next few training sessions, the team will welcome the full return of all brothers".
